Senior Marsalis Roddy named National Achievement Scholar!

The National Achievement Scholarship Program announced this morning that Marsalis Roddy was one of two SCS students among a national pool of elite high school seniors to be named winners in the prestigious National Achievement Scholarship competition.

Each school year, outstanding African-American students across the country are awarded National Achievement Scholarships for demonstrating proven potential for success in rigorous college studies and achieving excellent SAT scores. More than 160,000 students qualified for the scholarship as high school juniors, with only 1,600 advancing to the Semifinalist round nation-wide. Marsalis Roddy was selected as a winner from the Semifinalist group based on his impressive test scores and school merits and will receive a $2,500 National Achievement Scholarship to use toward his college education. Marsalis plans to pursue a medical degree. Congratulations to this outstanding senior scholars!
