HHS Students Get Some “News to Use” from Action News 5’s Andy Wise

Posted in Uncategorized by houstonmustangs on September 6, 2011

Action News 5’s Andy Wise spoke to students in Cristy Boggan’s Life Connections class at Houston High last week. As the station’s chief investigator, he spoke about how the aim of his work on TV is to help viewers become smarter consumers. He said the most important factor in being a smart consumer is learning how not to take “no” for an answer – a trait that actually helped him land his career in journalism. He discussed how all of his stories are focused on goodwill or accountability, such as the clip he showed about an immigrant woman who purchased a used car that had been totaled twice. He helped the woman get her car title, which was being withheld in an attempted scam. The students enjoyed hearing about Andy’s stories and left class feeling like wiser consumers.
