Congratulations to Wesley Jones who placed 4th in the nation in the North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad! He was chosen to represent the United States in the International Linguistics Olympiad this summer. Wesley is now a member of the US Olympic team who will represent the country at the International Computational Linguistics Olympiad (ILO 2011). Usually, the top 8 candidates across the country qualify for TeamUSA. This is an outstanding achievement not only for Houston High but also for the entire State of Tennessee and southeastern United States.

The goal of NACLO is to promote the study of linguistics and computational linguistics in high schools and to motivate high school students to pursue studies in linguistics or computer science in college and eventually pursue careers in the fields of linguistics and language processing technologies.
